Which of the following describes how to calculate the amount of storage in a RAID 5 array?
A.
Number of drives X capacity of the smallest drive
B.
(Number of drives 2) X capacity of the smallest drive
C.
Number of drives X capacity of the largest drive
D.
(Number of drives 1) X capacity of the smallest drive
hmmm.
I think this is the best way to calculate raid 5
# of drives multiply to the capacity then subtract 1 drive !!!
Pls correct me if i am wrong?

You’re correct, Brandon. RAID 5 requires that you take the size of the disks (# of disks times smallest disk capacity) and subtract one drive from the total size.
The answer given, ‘D’, corresponds to RAID 0, where you have a 1:1 ratio for drive size, based on the smallest drive size in the array.

I think there’s a minus sign missing in answers B and D. I think D is correct but should read “(Number of drives – 1) X capacity of the smallest drive”
