    Agreed. ‘D’ isn’t an acceptable answer to me, as common sense would dictate that you purchased the proper tapes for your drive. That said, the Ultrium/LTO standard states that tape drives are backwards compatible for two generations, e.g., an LTO3 drive would be able to read and write to both LTO1 and LTO2 tapes.

    But, given common sense…’D’ doesn’t make sense.

    I guess A is the correct Answer.
    Because the Server have 500GB of Data.
    A LTO3 Tape is limited to 400 GB Data.
    The compression in optimal Case of a LTO3 Tabe can increase the space to 800GB

    So also if you buy a LTO3 Tape isnt enough Space (400 GB)
    LTO2 Tabe have 200GB space and with optimal compression 400GB

    So only Answer A can be correct
