To send the Updates, EIGRP uses the Reliable Transport Protocol (RTP) to send the EIGRP updates and confirm their receipt.
Update – Advertises routes, only sent when there is a change. It multicasts at 224.0.0.10 only when there is a change in link cost. When a new neighbor is discovered, an update packet is sent as a unicast.
